Prevent and Prepare for Climate Change
California has set a goal to reduce the state's greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020 and to 80 percent below 1990 levels by 2050. The Air Resources Board is responsible for implementing the California Global Warming Solutions Act (AB32) in order to meet the 2020 emission reduction goal. Many agencies throughout the state are contributing to this effort.
In addition, there are steps that must be taken to protect against climate change impacts that are already occurring. Taking steps now to prepare for and adapt to climate change will protect public health and safety, our economy and our future.
