6th Annual California Climate Change Research Symposium

Sponsors: California Energy Commission, California Natural Resources Agency, and California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA)

CONFERENCE INFORMATION

The California Energy Commission and its Public Interest Energy Research (PIER) Program cordially invites you to its Sixth Annual Research Symposium on Climate Change Research. The conference will take place on September 8 to 10, 2009, in Sacramento, California.

As with past conferences, funded through the Energy Commission's Public Interest Energy Research (PIER) Program, the symposium will showcase cutting-edge regional climate change science: from greenhouse gas inventory methods, climate change monitoring and analysis, to impacts mitigation and adaptation.

Professor Chris Field, from Stanford University and the Carnegie Institution for Science, the new chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate change (IPCC) Working Group II, will be one of the keynote speakers. Professor Field will share his insights on the strategy that his working group will use for the preparation of the Impacts and Adaptation Report of the next IPCC Assessment.

Since 2003, the California Energy Commission has been the home of the first state-sponsored research program on climate change in the nation, focusing on California-specific issues. Our research complements federal and international research efforts to produce scientific information for the state to inform climate change policy. This year's conference features valuable new findings on climate change impacts, mitigation, and adaptation.
