2009 GOVERNORS' GLOBAL CLIMATE SUMMIT DECLARATION
The Declaration will reaffirm and build upon the goals of last year's Declaration. The 2009 Declaration includes commitments to pursue clean transportation and mobility; support for national climate change legislation, not only in the United States, but throughout the world; acknowledgement of the need for greater efforts to address our mutual need to adapt to climate change; and support for the recognition of the role of subnational governments in all aspects of achieving a global climate solution this December in Copenhagen.

LETTER OF INTENT
Monarch Butterfly Habitat Between United States of Mexico EcoLife and State of California
California/Mexico Letter of Intent on Reforestation of the Monarch Butterfly Habitat. Mexico's National government has committed federal land in the state of Michoacán where 300,000 trees will be planted. Michoacán is the final destination for Monarch butterflies born in Canada and the United States that migrate to Mexico in the fall.

FORESTRY LEADERSHIP LETTER
Forest & Climate Policy: A Call for leadership "Protecting the lungs of our planet"
Following up on the commitment of the GGCS1 Summit Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), to help stop tropical deforestation, the cutting and burning of trees to convert land to grow crops and raise livestock, and land degradation through joint projects and incentive programs; the MOU signatories drafted a letter to President Obama of the United States, President Lula of Brazil and President of Yudhoyono of Indonesia, regarding the need for leadership in forest and climate policy.

STATEMENT OF INTENT - Between the United Nations Development Programme and State of California
At GGCS2, African leaders announces a new continent-wide effort, called "A New Green Deal for Africa." To join in supporting this effort for Africa, A Statement of Intent was signed between the UNDP and the State of California to work under the current framework of the territorial approach to assist Africa, to develop low carbon development strategies.

California-Jiangsu China Partnership/Framework Agreement on Strategic Cooperation of Energy and Environment
Pursuant to the July 28, 2009 "Memorandum of Understanding to Enhance Cooperation on Climate Change, Energy and Environment" signed by the government of the United States of America and the government of the People's Republic of China, the State of California and Jiangsu Province of China signed a Framework Agreement on Strategic Cooperation of Energy and Environment for the purpose of establishing a cooperative subnational partnership to further energy security, promote economic sustainability and advance environmental sustainability.
