Water Adaptation Strategies
Strategy/Description:
Climate change is already impacting California's water resources. Warmer temperatures, different patterns of precipitation and runoff, and rising sea levels will profoundly affect the ability to manage water supplies and other natural resources. Adapting California's water management systems to climate change presents one of the most significant challenges for the 21st century. As part of the California Water Plan Update, the California Climate Adaptation Strategy, and other water planning efforts, the Department of Water Resources is working with climate scientists, water managers, state and federal agencies, and local and regional stakeholders to incorporate climate change into California water planning and management, including the development of adaptation strategies.
