About the California Climate Change Portal
This website contains information on the impacts of climate change on California and the state's policies relating to global warming. It is also the home of the California Climate Change Center, a "virtual" research and information website operated by the California Energy Commission through its Public Interest Energy Research (PIER) Program.
The website originally was created in 1998 by the California Energy Commission, combining info from its Climate Change Program Office and the PIER Program's climate change research unit. The site was expanded into a website Portal to combine the Energy Commission's efforts with input from other state agencies.
Information on this website is coordinated by the California Environmental Protection Agency and the Climate Action Team.
The Portal is hosted by the Energy Commission and operated by the Commission's Media and Public Communications Office under the direction of the California Environmental Protection Agency and the Commission's Executive Office.
